Today I scored BIG.
I headed to our local Amish bulk goods store with both kids in tow. I was harried by the time I got there but I was determined to stock up on dark chocolate chips and get out of there as quick as possible. I had one kid in each arm and could have dropped them both when I saw the price for a box of bananas.
$4.00 for a LARGE box of bananas
$4.00 for approximately 100 bananas. I call that a GOOD deal!
So, 200 bananas made their way home with me and I am on a dehydrating and freezing spree. (I should have taken pictures of it all this afternoon but my hands were covered…in bananas)
We use frozen bananas in many of our dairy-free desserts. Most frequently our homemade shakes. For an added health boost, we’re throwing in some chia seeds and some collagen for a huge boost of protein!
Peanut Butter Shake
Ingredients
1 frozen banana
1 cup milk or milk substitute I use almond milk
1/3 cup natural peanut butter
1 Tb chia seeds
1 Tb collagen
1 Tbs honey
1 tsp vanilla
6 ice cubes
Instructions
Place all ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into glass and serve immediately or place in freezer for 30 minutes for a thicker consistency.
Recipe Notes
Optional add-ins: flax seed, oatmeal, coconut oil
For a chocolate peanut butter version, simply add in 1 Tbs of cocoa powder.
